NYC

New york is a very big and populated state in U.S.A. The most interesting thing in NY is New York City (NYC). This city isn’t only Manhattan, but consists of, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island. Did you know Manhattan was the smallest out of the 5 boroughs, but is the most densely populated. NYC consists of more , than 8 million people. New York has many tags, such as “The city that never sleeps.” The most famous of these tags are “Big Apple.”

New York City is the birthplace of many cultures, such as the Harlem Renaissance. If you come to NYC you can see the many attractions. One particular attraction that many people around the globe come for is seeing the “Empire State Building.” Empire State Building is like a monument of NYC and you can see everything in NY from the top.

Another great attraction is the Statue Of Liberty. Did you know the Statue of Liberty is made out of copper and slowly by the years turned green. You can come to the many museums in NYC, but the best in my opinion is Metropolitan Mesuem of Art. It is one of the biggest museum in the world. That’s all to explain about NY, if you want to learn more come visit.

Obama is President

November 4th, 2008 shaki16 Politics 1 Comment

After waiting for over 21-months, there is a new president in one of the largest country in the world, the United States of America. The new president is, Senetor Barrack Obama. Obama has been attacked in politics by many people. First from senetor Hillary for the Democratic nominee, and then from McCain for the Presidential nominee. After months of waiting Obama has been elected president in November 4, 2008, at 11:19 P.M. eastern time. Obama had to go through alot to be elected president, from people critizing him about his color and then talking about his heritage.

Obama after, months of hard work is the 44th president of the U.S.A. America has been going through a lot of rough times and Obama hopefully will turn things around. McCain was also a good nominee who gave a very nice ending speech to his presidential run, with the crowd gracing  him. Even though McCain had critized Obama, McCain and Obama still have a smooth friendship.

Google has been a well publicized website from the early 1996. Don’t you wonder who created this miracles website. This website was created by 2 PH.D students in Stanford University and Google was a project. These two students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, had a brilliant idea of creating a search engine and analyzed the relationships between websites would produce better ranking of results than existing techniques, which ranked results according to the number of times the search term appeared on a page.

Google has many other features just than a search engine. Google, has their own email service, maps, groups, scholars, google products, and many more features. Google has some funny tricks to. When you type google backwards in the search page, (elgoog) you click on the first result and in that page everything is backwards. There is also google earth, which is a 3D earth figure, showcasing exact pictures of the place your looking at. For instance you can look at the top of your house by putting the address.

Gateway GT5468

August 9th, 2008 shaki16 Hardware 0

GT5468 PictureAre you looking for a low cost computer? I got the perfect computer for you. The computer is Gateway GT5468. This computer is great for multi-tasking. Many of us are looking for low cost computers but end up buying something for cheap, and it is really bad.

This computer is only 750 USD. This computer has a Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160, 1.8 GHz processor. It has 2 GB ram installed which is perfect for multi-tasking. One con about this computer is, its graphics are not the best. If you want a gaming computer I suggest you get a computer with more muscle in it. Except for the graphics the computer is really well build. It even has a 15 in 1 card reader.

There are 6 high speed USB slot, and there is 2 in the front, so you dont need to break you back trying to reach the back. If you want more opinions about the computer and the total specification you can go to the website.

Global Warming

July 24th, 2008 shaki16 Education and Reference, World Wide Facts 0

Global Warming, what is it? Is it what it sounds like? Yes, it is. Global warming is the warming of the earth. Now you may be wondering, how does the Earth heat up. The cause of Earth to heat up is carbon dioxide. As carbon dioxide increases, there is a layering covering earth. The layer doesnt allow the heat waves from the sun to head back out. This slowly causes the Earth heat up.

Global warming causes many disruptions around the world. One disruption is that Global Warming is melting the ice up in the North and South poles. These cold climates are slowly becoming hot. As the temprature rises it is bad for the animals that are native to cold climates, such as polar bears and white rabbits. Also the ice is melting and the ice is the landmass that the animals survive in. Most of the carbon dioxide caused is by us humans.

There are no solutions for stopping global warming, but adjusting some daily acitivites in our lives can help fight against global warming. One very easy thing a person can do is, take off the plug of any electronic device after you are done using it. Another thing you can do is, use mass transit, instead of using cars. You can have 1 bus, instead of 30 cars. These small things can help the environment around you, and save other environments such as the north pole and south pole.

All About Niagara Falls!

July 12th, 2008 shaki16 Travel and Tourism 1 Comment

Niagara Falls has been a tourism hotpot for many years now. Niagara Falls is the border line between Canada and the United States. The Horseshoe Fall which is in canada, and the American Fall, which is located in America.

The Horseshoe fall is 173 feet (53 meters), and the American Fall is 70 fee (20 meters). The Horseshoe fall is overall, larger in width and height. Niagara falls isnt only a tourism hotspot, people use the enormous energy of the falls to make power.

The first known effort to harness the waters was in 1759, when Daniel Joncaire built a small canal above the Falls to power his sawmill. Augustus and Peter Porter purchased this area and all of American Falls in 1805 from the New York state government, and enlarged the original canal to provide hydraulic power for their gristmill and tannery.

In 1853, the Niagara Falls Hydraulic Power and Mining Company was chartered, which eventually constructed the canals which would be used to generate electricity. In 1881, under the leadership of Jacob Schoellkopf, enough power was produced to send direct current to illuminate both the Falls themselves and nearby Niagara Falls village.
